About Dr. Carlos Cruz

Dr. Carlos Cruz brings an international perspective and extensive training to the Rio Grande Valley.

• Dr. Cruz holds a D.D.S. from Francisco Marroquin University.
• He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
• He also completed a one-year fellowship in Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery in Melbourne, Australia.

Background Information

Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Cruz manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. Dr. Cruz practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. Our office can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures.

Our staff is trained in assisting with Intravenous (IV) sedation and outpatient general anesthesia in our state-of-the-art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.

Surgical Staff

The surgical staff at Oral & Craniofacial Center PLLC are experienced, certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants, who assist in the administration of IV sedation and surgery. We also have a medical anesthesiologist to assist in office based anesthesia. All staff are informed administrative personnel, well versed in health and insurance policies, and are also CPR certified.

• Wisdom Teeth Removal: Our surgeons have extensive experience evaluating and removing impacted or problematic wisdom teeth. Before your procedure, we thoroughly assess your needs, and during surgery, we use IV sedation to maximize comfort and ease anxiety, making the process as comfortable as possible.
• TMJ Disorders: We offer a thorough evaluation of the jaw joint and surrounding muscles to diagnose TMJ disorders. Based on your diagnosis, we develop a personalized treatment plan that may include physical therapy, medication, or surgical solutions to address chronic pain or limited jaw movement.
